A_I_R Program

Comble Foundations Residency program accepts established artists, seeking to provide them with an seven week habitat to resolve, create anew or experiment within the overall context of their existing oeuvre. The goal is to nurture within the compound of the Foundation and Chateau grounds, an extraction from the day to day and ask the artist to slow down, to meditate on a certain subject and to objectively engage in the studio environment to produce a body of work that is cohesive and begs the potential viewer or the artist alone to respond. The artist will be asked to provide cohesive work, finished or ongoing for a group show in the final week of the program. This vernissage will be published and open to the local community, gallerists, critics and peers.

The program aims to accomplishes this Residency by reviewing annually a select group of applicants that meet the Residency requirements and providing free of charge to the artist: travel subsidies, per diem costs, comfortable housing onsite, local transport, a private well lit and airy studio space and all prearranged supplies to accomplish the artists goals during the program.

Each year 3 to 4 applicants are accepted to come stay at the Foundation and will be notified by the Foundation via email of their approval for a virtual interview. All applications are requested to be submitted by mid-Feb for the proceeding Summer Residency that takes place one time a year from the first week of August till the third week of September. Foundation Comble also requests that several pieces created at the Foundation of each artist stay in the collection of the Foundation for its archives.
